The "Respond to a Situation" question type, which was previously only available in the PTE Core, has now been included in the PTE Academic and UKVI exams as of August 7, 2025. This is exciting news for PTE takers. Indeed, Alfa PTE has already provided access to it for live PTE practice & mock tests for Respond to a Situation for PTE Academic and UKVI.
What is the "Respond to a Situation" task?
You will be asked to respond to a brief real-life scenario in this new PTE Speaking task, such as being late for a meeting or having to apologize for an error. After 10 seconds of preparation time, you'll have forty seconds to respond orally. Speaking fluently is only one aspect of it; your response must also be courteous, naturally structured, and appropriate for the context.
