Prepare Your Device for Alfa PTE Practice

Run the System Requirement Test
Open your dashboard and start the System Requirement Test. It checks that:
- Cookies are turned on
- JavaScript is turned on
- You are using Google Chrome
- Your screen is 1366 x 768 or bigger
- Your microphone is turned on
Each item should show a green tick. You can also press Record to test your microphone and speaker on the same screen.

Use Google Chrome
Alfa PTE works best on Chrome. If a check fails, update Chrome to the latest version and run the test again.

Set Up Your Microphone
A poor microphone can make your voice unclear or stop it from recording. In Chrome, allow microphone access for Alfa PTE and choose the right microphone. Wired USB headphones with noise cancelling give the clearest sound.

Practise on Your Phone
Alfa PTE has an app for Android and iOS. iPhone and iPad users need iOS 12.4 or newer.

The AI scores your speaking on how clear and smooth your voice sounds. A noisy recording can lower your score in PTE Speaking tasks even if you spoke well.
