FAQs

Why is selecting the correct microphone important for PTE speaking?

Choosing the correct microphone ensures your voice is clear and properly recorded, which helps the AI scoring system accurately assess your speaking responses. It is recommended to use USB wired headphones (with a noise cancellation feature if possible) for best performance.

How can I check if the right microphone is selected in Chrome?

In Chrome settings, go to site permissions and make sure your preferred microphone is selected and allowed for the Alfapte site before you start practice or the test.

What happens if my microphone isn’t working properly?

If the mic is faulty or set incorrectly, your voice may be distorted or not captured, which can lower your speaking score and affect PTE practice performance. Always cross check the connections, your network and browser settings to avoid such problems.
